Our wedding anniversary dinner this year and our first time here. Super professional, friendly, and attentive service from the time we checked-in through to dessert. Reservation for 6P and the sun hadn't gone down yet so we didn't see the evening's film (Jurassic Park) but that's alright! We enjoyed our delicious meal and drinks from a corner where we could people watch. It's a lively and airy space, with a nice hum of conversation buzzing throughout but not loud. I felt transported, like I was dining out while on vacation. I don't know why we haven't been before, but we'll definitely be back!

The vibes are immaculate here! It's bustling and so intimate with friends at the same time. You can tell everyone is enjoying themself and the atmosphere. We started with rye bread and oysters for the table. I would say these were well prepared but nothing too special. I ordered the grilled lavendar brine pork chop and the marinade was savory and delicious. It does not really taste like lavender. There was enough meat to make me full. At dessert time, we ordered a crostata for our friend to celebrate her birthday. They kindly placed a candle and also gave her a happy birthday card. The small card decor on the plate was not trimmed straight at the top, so it prompted me to reconsider their attention to detail. As for the movie, the sound was not loud enough (not sure if it was on?) for those who wanted to watch. But overall, I did enjoy my experience here and the atmosphere was definitely a key player. The bill can be a bit hefty, so I think people come here for special, fun occasions.

This is my second time here since my friend and I are all about their vibes. I love their outdoor seating, especially their decor and being able to watch an old film after sunset during dinner. I believe they play a different film every month. It's a very romantic restaurant. We made a reservation at 6pm on a weeknight, and we were running late but they were very accommodating. I ordered their Lavender Lemonade and it was very refreshing. I wasn't too sweet and had just the right amount of tartness. I also really enjoyed their Spring Mezze! since it had blood orange, beets, feta combined with a pea puree. We tried 3 different types of oysters but they were briny. I don't think oyster season is in May. We also ordered their famous curry sesame fried chicken and it was just as delicious as the first time I had it. The skin is crispy and the inside is very juicy. I think they gave less veggies this time compared to last time. We shared the apple & huckleberry crostata and it was a bit disappointing. The crust was hard and just didn't hit the spot. Overall, it's a good restaurant but just make sure to be selective with the type of food you order. I can't say that every single item is good but can vouch for the good vibes that it gives.

We took our chance and came in on a weekday night without reservation. Got seated by the bar. It's a nice area away from the crowd. Drinks are decent. Food is overall good. Though salad portion is a bit petite. I love the concept of outdoor movie+dinner. But practically speaking, it's unrealistic to just enjoy the movie itself because everyone is chatting and it's hard to hear the sound. The movie is projected on the wall and loses a lot of colors and details. Overall we enjoyed our visit! Hope this review helps people adjust their expectations and have a good time!

I haven't been here in 7 years but Foreign Cinema still lives up to my memory. As a bonus, I was surprised to see how kid friendly they are! RESERVATIONS Made 1 day in advance for 11:30am brunch for 6 people on a Saturday. THE SERVICE Great! Everyone here is so friendly and has good recommendations. COCKTAILS * The Garden ($17) - 4.5 stars I asked the server for something refreshing and herbacious. She recommended this one and I loved it! Exactly what I needed, a lighter tasty cocktail. * Buffy the Vampire Slayer ($15) - 4.5 My partner loved this, tasty, herbal, gin-forward. An interesting take on gin & tonic. THE FOOD * Kid's meal - 4 stars Kids get a 3 course meal! Fruit/yogurt, main, and ice cream. We got a scrambled egg (silky and tasty) and a french toast (soft and flavorful), the quality is just as good for the kid's mains. * Pacific Ahi Poke ($23) - 4 stars My server warned this was a smaller dish, but I wasn't too hungry so this was perfect. The fish was fresh and it had just enough sauce. Avocados were perfect ripeness. * Porchetta Sandwich ($24) - 4 stars * Balsamic Fried Eggs ($24) - 3.5 stars

BRUNCH Way better than 7 year ago! Ended up coming here after another brunch reservation fell through. So happy we gave Foreign Cinema's brunch another go--food and drinks were generally spot on, and service was friendly and efficient. Free metered street parking on Sunday, though it gets busier the later you go. Seating is 60/40 outdoors/indoor; outdoors has heaters and bistro lighting. Overall, beautiful atmosphere, though on a sunny day it can be very bright--bring sunglasses. Homemade blood orange pop tart ($8.5) was not overly sweet, though had a ton of sugar on top (both powdered and Demerara(?))--would prefer the sugar to be in a glaze form so you're not crunching on granules. Same issue with the sweet bacon (millionaire's without any heat)--would prefer for it to be rendered down more and the sugar less granular. But I'd definitely get both again--sweet bacon is the only bacon I like. Bavette steak and eggs ($36) - well seasoned, meat was tender though small portioned. French truffle omelette ($24) - super light and lick-your-lips tasty. I'm not an omelette girl, but if I'm going to get an omelette, this is most definitely the one I would get. Star of my brunch. Kids brunch ($18) - comes with a bowl of nicely presented and cut fruit (blood orange, mandarin orange, strawberries, blackberries); choice of either French toast, scrambled eggs, or grilled cheese; and 2 scoops of ice cream or sorbet (only chocolate and vanilla was avail when we visited). Portion size of fruit on this was similar to the adult menu version (which we also had, which was over some yogurt and honey). French toast was over a pineapple butter sauce, with fresh whipped cream on the side, and had cacao nibs on top (next time we'll be sure to ask them to omit the cacao nibs for my daughter). Overall great brunch! We made a reservation via Open Table for next weekend too.
